Experience:
Allison West has a straightforward approach to employment practices: be proactive. After practicing law at a San Francisco labor and employment boutique, Allison decided to use her employment law background, coupled with her sound knowledge of human resource practices, to provide proactive risk management services aimed at helping companies both prevent and resolve employment claims. As principal for Employment Practices Specialists, Allison specializes in developing and delivering training programs that address employment law and human resource issues both in the US and internationally.
Her expertise also includes conducting workplace investigations and one-on-one sensitivity training for managers and employees concerning harassment, discrimination and diversity awareness issues; coaching managers and employees with disciplinary and/or behavioral problems; providing expert witness assistance; and customizing employee handbooks, policies and procedures.
A sought-after trainer for her dynamic presentation style, Allison is a frequent speaker at the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) Annual Conference & Exposition as well the Northern California Human Resource Association’s Annual Conference and Trade Show where she has been ranked as one of the top two speakers for the past few years. Allison has also taught a one-day program entitled Managing within the Law as part of the Weatherhead Executive Education Program, Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University. Allison West is a member of the State Bar of California.
She holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, Northern California Human Resource Association and San Francisco Bar Association. She received her B.A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder and her J.D. from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
