Mission Statement:
Anne specializes in coaching lawyers in the areas of career assessment, development, and transition. She draws upon her 25 years of combined experience as a lawyer, business owner, and educator as well as her coach training to empower lawyers to create lives and careers that will bring them greater satisfaction.
Anne works with lawyers who are looking for career alternatives inside and outside of the law, and assists with self assessment, identifying and creating options, strategic planning, achieving work/life balance, and developing leadership skills. She also provides outplacement and seminars for law firms and corporations.
Experience:
Anne Whitaker has over 25 years of combined experience in law, coaching, marketing, start-ups, and education. She is Vice President of Business Development for the Atlanta office of Counsel On Call, and provides career coaching to the legal profession.
Anne received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1986. She served on the editorial board of the Georgia Law Review from 1984 to 1985. She also holds B.S. and M.S. degrees, summa cum laude, in Special Education from Florida State University. After law school, Anne practiced real estate law for five years with the Atlanta law firms: Glass, McCullough, Sherrill & Harrold; and Goodman, Hudnall, Cohn & McManus, P.C. In 1991, she transitioned from lawyer to entrepreneur and founded In-House Counsel Inc., a pioneer in the contract attorney placement industry.
In-House Counsel ultimately became a key firm for attorney placement and careering in the Atlanta area. Anne sold the company in 1996 to a national company and continued to manage the Atlanta office for two years. In 2003, Anne joined the Atlanta office of Counsel On Call to devote more time to career coaching, outplacement, and providing lawyers, law firms, and corporations options to the traditional practice of law. Since 1993, Anne has created, chaired, and presented numerous seminars and workshops for lawyers on career development and transition for organizations including the Atlanta Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, GAWL, The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), Cox Communications, and Pilot International.
Anne is licensed to practice law in Georgia. She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and Georgia Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL). Anne is also a founding member and co-chair of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Career Management Committee. Anne received her coach training from Corporate Coach University’s Advanced Corporate Coaching Program. She is licensed to administer the Highlands Ability Battery and other career planning assessments.
