Mission Statement:
I have suffered from clinical depression for years. I wanted to find a way to help my fellow lawyers who also struggle with this issue. I looked for a website to contribute my services to, but couldn’t find one. So I created one. Its purpose is to provide on-line support for lawyers, judges, law students and those who care about them. On the site are helpful articles, links, podcasts and information about where to get help.
Experience:
- I have practiced law for twenty years in both state and federal courts.
- I represent plaintiffs in personal injury matters and am presently the managing partner at my firm.
- I have received local and statewide awards for my work as a litigator.
- In addition to the website I created for depressed lawyers, I also run a support group in my community for lawyers who struggle with depression.
- I give presentations to bar organizations and their members who wish to learn more about depression among lawyers and what we can do to help.
- I am currently the Chair for the Committee to Assist Lawyers with Depression my local Bar Association.
- I am a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Lawyers Assistance Committee. My work on the committee is devoted to helping lawyers around New York State with their depression.
- This year I have been awarded the Public Merit Award by the New York State Bar Association and the Distinguished Alumni Award for Public Service by the University at Buffalo School of Law.
- In addition to my work as a lawyer, I am on the Board of Directors for Compeer. This is a national organization dedicated to helping those with all kinds of mental illnesses.
