The Sustainable Business Group works with businesses and law firms on strategic long term planning. We identify the key drivers of organizational success, steadily increasing revenues and profit margins. We promote improving the quality and reputations of the organizations we serve through helping improve hiring and employee retention practices, better definitions of target markets, improving governance structures, and helping forge new, mutually rewarding strategic alliances. Our projects promote a new sense of organizational capabilities by including all groups in the organization and aligning them toward robust, strong results.
Experience:
Our team of consultants have worked with law firms for over 25 years. Herb Rubenstein was the senior partner in a Washington, DC law firm from 1984 to 2004, when he wrote his book, Leadership for Lawyers. Now a full time consultant to law firms and corporations throughout the United States, he and his associates teach leadership development, strategic planning, and help law firms and corporations identify their current operational challenges and create plans to address these challenges and grow in a systematic, sustainable manner.
Few law firms have three-year plans, much less five- or ten-year plans. A volatile economy argues for investing in the future of the people in the law firm and the law firm itself. Stable growth in law firms was considered a given from 1970 through 2008. Now that is not the case. The law firms that will survive and prosper are those with the discipline and imagination that result from including all members of a firm in planning for the coming months and years.
We have published numerous articles on leadership issues, teach leadership development to lawyers nationwide, and give keynote addresses at law firm retreats.
